2. Installation2.1 ExtractExtract the archive you downloaded: tar -xvjf libsw500-l1-0.9-src.tar.bz cd libsw500-l1-0.9/src
2.2 Configure / CompileOpen the Makefile with your favourite text editor. You may want to change the install prefix or the serial port or both. The files will go in PREFIX/lib and PREFIX/include. The serial port /dev/ttyS0 is COM1 under dos and /dev/ttyS1 is COM2. After you finished editing the makefile type make. You better hope it compiles.
2.3 InstallIf the above step showed no error: su Do ls -l /dev/ttyS0 (or S1 if you changed it) and see whether users have read/write permission. If not, chmod 666 /dev/ttyS0 This is necessary to allow regular users to use the lbb (they need permission to write to and read from the port it's connected to). /dev/ttyS0 might be a link to something like /dev/tts/0, the chmod above should work anyway. Last step, type make install If you still got no errors, it should be good for use.
2.4 Troubleshootingmake: command not foundI really have seen linux systems without make. In SuSE it's in the developement tools section.
